Of sinners - חטאים chaṭṭâ'iym This word means literally, those who miss the mark; then, those who err from the path of duty or rectitude. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. The word used here is general, and would embrace all kinds and degrees of the unrighteous. He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly - There is a double Climax in this verse, which it will be proper to note: - There are here three characters, each exceeding the other in sinfulness.
